8 Days Ho Chi Minh City & Mekong Delta

We’re going underground – deep into the Cu Chi Tunnels! These hand-dug tunnels changed the course of the Vietnam War. The well-camouflaged entrance holes lead into a network of incredibly narrow tunnels that stretch for over 200 kilometres connecting command posts, hospitals and shelters. We’ll learn about the life of the Vietcong and venture into some of the tunnels. The deadly, bamboo-spiked booby traps are another must-see.

Saigon is a lively and ever-changing city where elegant skyscrapers tower over incense-infused temples and motorcycles control the streets. The traditional European-style landmarks include Notre Dame Cathedral, the Opera House, the grandiose City Hall, and the art-deco Post Office. Reminders of the recent past can be seen in the Reunification Palace, which was memorably assaulted by tanks in 1975. We’ll see all of the city’s great attractions and have time to shop the stalls at the lively Ben Thanh Market.

Visitors are welcome to visit the BOARC Gallery and witness the masterpieces made by thousands of bamboo sticks. After learning the procedure and technique, you can experience it by yourself. First involve meaningful community artworks and then for a souvenir product individually created for you. Spend the night in Ho Chi Minh City.

Depart from Ho Chi Minh City around 8:00 am, we head to Mekong Delta, the land of nine dragons. Getting out of the city, you will see the mighty delta with its quaint rural landscape and immense waterway.

Arrive Cai Be, greet at Cai Be harbor and boat trip transfer to Mekong Lodge.

Check in your private bungalows and enjoy a delicious lunch in our Mekong Riverside Restaurant.

In the afternoon, guests are going to have a bike tour around the area nearby Lodge, countryside sightseeing and visit Kim Phuoc Pagoda.

From 08:00 am: boat trip to Cai Be market, visit handicraft villages, then transfer to Mekong Lodge.

02:00 pm: daily lunch is served in the nice restaurant with the Vietnamese day-menu.

Second day’s program will include a bike trip to Tan Phong Island: visit some local handicraft: handmade banana leaves hammock, daily house products being made from water hyacinth, free fruit tasting & Vietnamese folk music. Then take a small rowing boat to a small canal.

18:30 – 19:00 pm: carvings on fruits or carrots in the evening & dinner in a restaurant.

12:00 pm: Check out and boat transfer to Cai be harbor.

Then drive to Can Tho. Upon arrival, transfer to the hotel. Spend the night in Can Tho.

Enjoy a morning boat cruise to the Cai Rang Floating Market which is full of small boats and vessels that deliver goods from all parts of the Mekong Delta. You will have a chance to observe lively activities of merchants trading their produce as well as enjoying the seasonal fruit before returning to the hotel.

• Welcome guests at Vam Xang fruit garden. This is an eco-tourism garden with many kinds of tropical fruits. Visitors are welcomed by the family, the garden owner guides visitors around the garden, uses bamboo tools to teach visitors how to pick fruit, in addition, the garden owner also guides visitors how to cover the fruit to prevent pests and to minimize the need to spray the fruit.
• Visitors enjoy fruit picked from the trees.
• The host introduces the family, its culture and traditions to visitors. A family of three generations lives and works together. Visitors learn about the land, customs and people here.
  Tourists take photos on the monkey bridges of the West and visit the ancient house of Tan Vam Xang with its typical three-region architecture.
• Tour guide at the cycling point with guests to explore Phong Dien village with peaceful countryside scenery, fruit gardens on both sides, rural bridges and ferries connecting the two river banks. On the way, visitors will visit the blacksmith.
• Making and enjoying rice vermicelli.
• Then continue to the nursery to see people growing colorful plants.

Return to Vam Xang to end the program. Return to the hotel. Spend the night in Can Tho.
